Membership Requirements
To qualify for Active Membership in the Massachusetts Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (MSOMS), applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Graduate of an accredited dental school
- Completion of an accredited oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program
- Hold a license in dentistry or medicine in Massachusetts
- Maintain membership in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS)
- Complete an on-site Office Anesthesia Evaluation (OAE) based on the AAOMS Office Anesthesia Evaluation Program
Application Materials
Applicants must submit:
- A completed MSOMS membership application
- Two letters of recommendation from current MSOMS members
- The applicable application fee (see below)
Application Fee
The application fee is based on years in practice:
- 3 years or less: $15
- 4–7 years: $75
- 7+ years: $150
Membership Process
Once a complete application packet is received:
- The application is reviewed by the MSOMS Executive Committee.
- Approved applicants are invited to attend an MSOMS meeting, where candidates are voted into the Society by the membership.
- New members become Provisional Members and must complete their first Office Anesthesia Evaluation (OAE) within one year to achieve Active Membership status.
